The most thorough presentation of the techniques you'll find in one place, I'd say, is Patterns of the Hypnotic Techniques of Milton H. Erickson.

If you know how to do chair hypnosis, then you know how to make suggestions. The basic idea is to drop suggestions into your conversation. It's easy to do that. And, you'll find it's very rewarding.

Overall, think of chair hypnosis as:

Induction
The Process
Emersion

--skip the first and last step, and replace direct references to the client ("you") with talk about a friend. I had a friend, Delta, who asked me about covert hypnosis. I told him that one time I asked a friend of mine about covert hypnosis, and he said, Hypnosis is the easiest thing to do, covertly... Because it's just making suggestions. And I wouldn't want to suggest you learn to do that too quickly, now, because it's a process you'll find you really enjoy doing it. With anything, it's a matter of enthusiasm...

Hey
I agree with Conrad in that Patterns 1 is a brilliant read.
I have also posted extensively on coverthypnosis philosophy, ethics and techniques and how to's at
http://keystothemind/blogspot.com
The stop article entitled 'secrets of elegant and entrancing hypnotic language' should also help you out, as with several others.
Plus if you go to the interviews page you should listen to Igor Ledochowski, William May and Jamie Smart, all of whom give great insights into covert hypnosis.

LOL Conrad that was great, just a question out of curiosity, how can Darren Brown make people forget then implant faulse memories to them is that just a trick or it is possible?

Hey
Well Derren Brown and covert hypnosis don't necessarily come into the same category, it is my opinion that on TV he is more magician than hypnotist, however, really when you think about covert hypnosis is extremely simple, as Conrad says, but that doesn't mean it isn't something powerful which you cannot study in great depth.

To my mind it is just enhancing the way we naturally communicate all the time, through the use of stories, hypnotic language, anchoring and other techniques many of which 'NLP' many aren't, it's something thats so hard to cover in a forum post, as it's an equally big topic as regular hypnosis.

If you just think about covert hypnosis as deeply meaningful communication, communication which seems to speak to the person as a whole rather than just hitting the surface veneer, and at least give thought to this belief as you study the resources that others and myself will link to, you'll probably find it very easy and rewarding to begin studying this art.

Usually though, i say if you want to learn something, then study from as many places as possible, practice, trial and error and
Specific questions, are probably the way to go :)

What i would ask you though, is what is your intention, why is it that you wish to learn covert hypnosis?

Cheers
Nathan

I should say, I myself don't really do stagecraft. Just not into it. But the general idea in street hypnosis is to use a pattern interrupt to induce trance. Then you might elicit a state of forgetfulness and link that to their name, by talking about how easy it is for a person to forget their name, or by asking them their name and firing the forgetfulness anchor, or so on.

Also keep in mind that the basic idea is to get their unconscious mind actively cooperating with you. And you build up those responses by recognizing and rewarding correct behavior (which can be done as simply as, "that's right," or "and it feels really good to...").

I'll say, a lot of the neuro-lingusitic programming stuff out there is pretty second-rate. But if you ever come across a neuro-linguistic programmer who really knows his stuff, it's pretty amazing the stuff they can do.

My favourite "covert" hypnosis/NLP guy is Kevin Hogan. His stuff would definitely help you with using covert hypnosis for sales - that's mostly what he's all about. Just stick his name in your favourite search engine and you'll get a tonne of links. Yes, he's sometimes a bit 'over-the-top', but his stuff works. You can learn a lot for free just from reading the articles on his web-site, and if that strikes a cord, take a look at his DVD programs. I think he may actually go to Austrialia once in a while, too, as he travels extensively.

Personally, I can't recommend him; there are better people out there.

Thank you Nathan. That was the FIRST thought in my head...lol.

So: I'll do the deed and ask: Why DO you want to learn covert hypnosis, Delta?

I found on bittorrents Igor Ledochowski's conversational hypnosis course which includes manuals and CDs. I will let you all know how it went.

I am always astonished that anyone would think it's a good idea to publicly announce on a forum like this, that they are illegally copying and distributing copyrighted hypnosis training material instead of paying for it. Hello?

Well its there on the internet

Yeah, but making these products is how people make a living, if you can afford it pay.

I would fully recommend Igor's course for people willing to do the decent thing and pay for their investment, the website is conversational-hypnosis.com, Kevin Hogans materials are also not without merit, however i cannot and never will endorse the theft of fellow hypnotists products.
