Good books ?

I'm getting ready to go book shopping again. So I figured I'd ask everyone on here. I like to learn so any ideal on some good books that has just something about that , just jumps out and says hey read me.

Well, I may only be 17, but I do know many good books when I see them...my favorite is House of Leaves, by Mark Danielewski. I swear, that book is a confusion induction all on its own, complete with anchors. The text likes to go in a maze, and every house in the book is blue. However, it is a horror story though, not much gore except in some small parts, but my friend was reading it by himself at oe of the climax's, and he got so paranoid he locked all the doors and swears he heard something scratching from behind the door. He's giving the book back to me today....I wish I could write horror that well xD.

I think my favorite hypnotherapy book has to be Wordweaving by Trevor Sylvester. Although ostensibly a book about the use of hypnotic language (part 3 of the book), it is parts 1 and 2 which are the most interesting.

Part 1 steps out a really elegant model of psycho-dynamic theory, encompassing the interplay between memory, emotion and Dilt's neurological levels model, and the effect this all has on our response to given stimuli (particularly when integrated with Joseph LeDoux's work on emotions and the amygdala).

Part 2 gives incorporates all of this with Stephen Wolinsky's work into 'trance identity' and 'trance behaviour', and how this model can be used to explain some of 'why-we-do-the-things-we-do'... It's a great read and truly mind expanding.

(Part 3 focuses in on Ericksonian language patterns, and whilst informative, seems a bit arbitrary really unless I've missed something).

Hi Ricky:

I believe one of the best books you can read on hypnotherapy is Dave Elman's "Hypnotherapy." You can get it on Amazon.com, through Westwood publishing in L.A., or at omnihypnosis.com. It's basically a transcription of one of Elman's training sessions with physicians, and it takes you step-by-step through his processes of regression therapy and changing perception.

The single best book I have ever read (and am now ordering a new copy as mine is 20 years old and showing its fondling) is "How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World" by Harry Browne. This book paved the way for my current life in many ways. One of the lasting lessons I learned from Harry is that there is a price to be paid for everything: you just have to decide whether that price is worth it, or not. Thanks for reminding me about my favorite book; I need order several to have on hand for certain clients who are stuck.
