I am interviewing Dr. Lori Barr, M.D. who wrote the book the DNA of Success. Dr. Barr isn't a hypnotherapist but she confirms and supports everything we have learned at HMI. Listen at 4PM CST http://www.roseheartradio.com

Jackie, where are you doing timeline training? I just did NLP practitioner training with Joe and John at HMI in August. Is that what you are referring to?

Marlene, I've only done one phone session. My client was an elderly lady whose hands-free setting on her phone wasn't working. It was difficult for her to physically hold the phone. Other than that, get verbal yesses where we would normally see bodily responses and you're golden. Good luck!

I take timeline in 2 weeks! I'm very excited. My client didn't want to dissociate...he really wanted to be involved in the memory. Since there was physical trauma and some anxiety I wanted to keep him in a movie theater. He would go voluntarily when things got real scary, otherwise I had to establish an anchor that would send him there. I was having some concern whether to allow him the experience he wanted or to err on the side of caution...his present wellbeing was my number one concern.

Hi to all fellow HMI students. I am planning to add over the phone sessions to my practice, and I was hoping that some of you are already doing this, and could offer some good pointers and pitfalls to avoid when working with clients in this format.

Jackie, I could be wrong, but I think you may be able to teach your client how to dissociate - possibly with some timeline work. Have them practice jumping out of their body and floating way way up..then back down...and back out...etc..To keep them from fully associating.
Jackie Spencer Comment by Jackie Spencer on November 5, 2009 at 8:07pm
I did my first retrogression a couple of nights ago and couldn't keep the client from associating fully. I had to keep pulling him into a stable state when he was physically reacting very strongly to the memories. It was the most intense session I've ever done.

HMI does discuss retro-gression, which is a different form of regression for new memories to effect the future without revivification. In my opinion; Inner Child is a form of regression, just never re-experiencing trauma, or anything that was dramatic. Nobody should experience it twice. I agree with HMI. However, I also agree that going back is important... it's how it's done that makes a difference.

I've ben watching the live shows also. Signed up for sports, haven't done it yet. I have PPV courses stacked up.Just finishing the last 4 advance classes (handwriting) as well. It seems all of the other schools do teach age regression. I spent a day with a well known hypnotist the other day and he said, I can't believe HMI doesn't teach that. I'm disapointed! He wnet on that he uses age regression of some sort in a third of his sessions.

I have yet to ask for handwriting samples in session and it's something that might be very helpful. I have used it for promotion in street fairs. I almost always have a line at my booth and it's a great intro for hypnosis.

Hello everyone, how is everyone today?

Michael, As can I. However, some techniques I was originally taught in class were specified for only pain of a non-medically assignable cause. Needless to say, I have also moved on since then. John
