UK

In the UK? Things are different here, with the 1952 hypnotism act governing stage hypnosis and no regulation at all on therapeutic approaches maybe we can moan about our stuff and be here to help our overseas friends if they want to come here.

I have just joined the group and want to say "hello".

I am based in Newcastle upon Tyne and am interested in meeeting up with fellow hypnotherapists for an exchange of ideas, etc. I am prepared to travel, but not too far, and not too often.

Isn't it about time d the 1952 hypnotic act was repealed as it’s a bit of nonsense from the past like the Witchcraft Act 1735?

The whole thing was due to an American Hypnotist by the name of Ralph Slater who accused obey one of his female volunteers of assault and professional negligence during a show he preformed in Brighton in 1948

The case allowed for the professional negligence but did not find that an assault occurred.

This incident led to a private member's bill to be passed in parliament in August 1952, the Hypnotism Act was placed on the statute book.

Interestingly Slater came back to the uk and got acquitted of any charge use the silly act remained.

The Act grants power to any local to attach conditions in relation to the demonstration or performance of hypnosis for entertainment. In other word you have to ask permission and be given a licence to put on a show.

However some councils use the act now to regulate seminars on teaching hypnosis ,group therapy using hypnosis where the numbers are more than 2 in a room and shows involving past life regression by claiming such activates fall under the heading of entertainment.

Also some councils now ask for payment for processing the application for a licence and in some areas that can cost over a hundred pound.

The act is a mere hindrance and should be scraped in my opinion. It serves only to obstruct peoples carers and reinforce the idea that hypnosis is some how dangerous which its not.

Every item bellow has been purchased from the original retailer and is not a copy.

The items will be posted on eBay on the weekend at:
Home > Buy > Health & Beauty > Natural/ Alternative Therapies > Hypnotism & Hypnotherapy

Some of the boxes are damaged due to being in storage

Postage can be combined if you’re bidding on multiple items and will be added to the total price once the bidding is over.

Obviously the text items will be heavy so the postage could be high.

Every item will have a low starting bid because I’m having a clear out and want to get as many sold as possible.

If you want to know more about each item then you can do a web search using the item title name and you should find the place I have bought them from.

If you have any questions please ask.
