Ground Rules

Okay, since this is a group about stage hypnosis, but not for selling your shows, here are a few ground rules:

1) Please show respect to all members by not spamming the group with pleas for bookings, agencies or gigs. If you want to do that, feel free to start a group dedicated to marketing stage hypnosis.

2) No multiple conversations on the same topic. If you post multiple conversations with the same content, you will get One Warning, ONE suspension and then you will be removed from the group.

3) Please show respect to all members of the group, even if you disagree with them. Argue issues and ideas, not people and personalities.

4) Have FUN!

5) SHARE

6) Lastly, this is not the place for arguments about whether stage hypnosis is "ethical" or "proper" or not. Take that as a given for this group. If you disagree - fine, but please... this is NOT the place for it.

Hi Douglas,

There is a surprising amount to learn, which is fine if you enjoy the whole performer lifestyle.

I would initially start by doing some free shows (charity, fetes, etc) once semi-competent to gain much needed experience.

Warmest Regards

Scott

Hi Stage Hypnotists,
I just joined the group, as I am intrigued with the art of stage hypnosis. Having just lost my day job as an engineer, I may have time to make a go of it.

The discussions on the wall are so fragmented that it is starting to look rather scruffy.

Can members please use the Discussion Forum provided above for topic related subjects.

Dear members: I see material for at least six or seven different discussion threads on this wall; especially since so many postings here are deserving of specific reply. Is there some way to shift or edit these comments into connnected threads? And might we have a link over to Justin James' vital "Stage Hypnosis and the insurance industry" discussion over in a whole 'nother group? Or copy it and add it to our selection here? I'm off to start some discussions now, toodeloo.

By the way: Go to themagicafe.com, then the F/X forum to see what a struggle magicians have with selecting music control systems. they talk about the pros and cons of many. Also, the Music/Cuing control I mentioned for $24.95? I originally planned to just give out the idea I had for free, then spent a lot of time and effort putting together an on line tutorial, so I let a business friend try to talk me into selling it for $50. I settled on $24.95, but have decided that $10 was enough. the tutorial shows you how to program free software and a suggestion for the remote all to turn your laptop into a great visual cueing program with control of music and sound effects.

While the Human Bridge (Full Body catalepsy) has nothing to do with hypnosis, or being hypnotized the fact that insurance providers have been convinced it is dagerous makes it a no-no. What is it? It is applied physics, performed by magicians long before a stage hypnotist ever tried it. Standing on them, or even "hypnotizing" yourself so someone can stand on you is you looking for a lawsuit. Really dumb.

I use to the body catalepsy from time to time. I'd make sure their shoulder are on a flat chair with someone sitting on the chair. If done right it ok but the key word is right and not someone standing on them.

Right, Tommy. Shouldn't ever be done. Period.
Tommy Vee Comment by Tommy Vee on October 15, 2009 at 6:35am
Friends:

I just saw a video clip (facebook) of a stage hyp performing at a recent (2009) Grad party & doing Full Bodey Catalepsy! I couldn't believe it. I guess we do our own shows, but friends, I believe that this should NEVER be done & it's simply not necessary.

On top of doing the catelepsy, it appears the hyp did it on a high school student.

I know that if thei hyp is insured with one of the US stage hyp providers, the hyp has voided the policy.

How many people have had, or continue to have, dreams wherein you see a dead loved one? Do these dreams bring you peace? How do these dreams help you come to terms with your loss? Has hypnosis helped in any way with these dreams?
