Hello folks! New here, to both Hypnothoughts and the group. I am in the tiny town of Quitman, about 100 miles due east of Dallas. I'm currently just a hobbyist, but I'm planning on making the leap into professional hypnosis soon.

Luis, I think it's really cool that you are able to hypnotize people in two languages. Despite my surname, I don't speak Spanish. Considering the abundance of Spanish-language television and radio programs here in south Texas, there are some good opportunities for Spanish-speaking hypnotists.

I like Reality is Plastic (which is really about impromptu hypnosis, but the stuff within can be applied to a stage setting) because of the theories and ideas about hypnosis that Anthony Jacquin talks about. Ronning's book is useful in that he goes into the business aspects of stage hypnosis like few others do. I agree that if you can afford the time and money for it, live training is best, but the books I recommended will get you off to an excellent start in lieu of that.

I learned stage hypnosis form the best, Justin Tranz, Tom Silver, Gil Boyne rapid inductions and Hugh Cole, just to name a few. Y en español con Tulam, todos realmente buenos. There are a few books that I like, I have an old book printed in 1900's Suggestive Therapeutics and Hypnotism , Dave Elman green book and Miracles on Demand,

If I were to recommend a course or a book Doug it would be Richard Nongard's DVD set and Jon Chase's work. Ronning wasn't that impressive to me and neither was "Reality is Plastic". Richard is right up the road in Tulsa and makes teaching forays down here often. You will get much better support going that route, Of course John Chessatal is right over in FT. Worth and he teaches on line. Food for thought.

Books: Reality is Plastic (Anthony Jacquin), Deeper and Deeper (Jon Chase), Ronning Guide to Modern Stage Hypnosis (Geoffrey Ronning), Hypnotherapy (Dave Elman--not about stage hypno but well worth reading). Richard Nongard has some good DVDs, including a Vegas show that includes the pre-talk and induction (it's called Hypnosis X-Treme). That ought to get you off to a good start.

Dan...cool. What books can you recommend? I am a great reader.
Dan Perez Comment by Dan Perez on October 18, 2009 at 7:45am
Doug, I am pretty much self-taught. I can recommend some good books and DVDs if you are interested in learning about it.

Dan, where did you learn stage hypnosis? Who taught you? I'm interested in learning some of that...possibly.

That's a little bit like saying if a client comes into your office and you notice they smoke, while in a trance do slip in a smoking cessation (for their own good)... Some people know me only as a past life therapist in my advertising and working...

Hi Roy, I was planning to take the third week of the course you are offering in BC. I am registered hypnotherapist and would love to do parts training. Would this training be similiar to the parts seminars you offer.

Hi Gerry, Great to see ya! My guess is that her fear of vomiting concealed other social anxieties. After-all, I would think that she would be thrilled that she got "so" much relief in one session, instead she shares that: "I find it difficult to...

My response is that as a Christian, I don't know if there are past lives or not - I don't think so - but I don't care - that's not important to our work. What is important is to unhook a negative emotion that we may have label at an unconscious le...

I never propose past life regression to a client, but I'll do it if a client asks me for it. I always explain that I don't know whether people are reincarnated, so the experience might simply be an important message from their unconscious. You sh...

I'm really curious - how do you read Hebrews 9:27 to say anything about past lives? As I read it in context of the chapter it says that we die once (no more than once) and then we face judgment. It is not my job to mess with my client's faith. My...
