I attended the second meetup, June 18, 2009, and the following is a short report about it, from my point of view (of course).
The meetup was held in the reception area for Shiela Reed's office in Round Rock, a suburb of Austin. Plenty big enough for more people than attended. A very attractive space, furnished with a sofa and comfortable chairs. It is on the second floor, and there's no elevator.
There were a total of 9 people there, 3 men and 6 women. Ages ranged from early 20's to late 50's(I'm 57). There were both practicing hypnotists and learners. Both equally welcome.
Introductions started the meeting. Some of which started general discussions about what people were doing with hypnosis.
The program on marketing a hypnosis practice by John McLean was extremely interesting and full of tips. The simplest tip which really stands out in my mind is to never use a dollar sign when giving your fees, just use numbers - and don't use a decimal point either. Reason: This avoids or reduces the unconscious negative associations with spending money ($90.00 represents money, 90 is just a number). Lots of other good insights and tips, backed up by some of John's personal stories. And good discussion during the presentation.
The meeting started at about 7:30 pm and ended at about 9:40 pm.
I'd like to encourage everyone in he Austin area to come to the next meetup. Check

I'd love if some of the other people who were there post their experience of the meetup - not only the June meeting, but also the May meeting and future meetings.
