Hi Jackie, I'd be delighted to explain. I use a combination of hypnosis and psychoanalitical techniques to help people overcome fears phobias and panic attacks. I will attempt to expand on that in plain english. We as individuals are the sumtotal of our life experiences. Based on our perceptions and the context in which we experience of living, we all experience life in a unique way. As toddlers most of us learn to walk and we usually never have to learn again. Walking falls into the realm of the subconscious. Same thing with driving. Very complicated at first then with practice driving becomes automatic. Life experiences that have an emotional intensity usually remain on the shelves of the subconscious warehouse ready for use in the fraction of an instant if deemed necessary by the subconscious. Lots of memories we have easy access to eg First day at school, graduating, opening a present on Christmas morning, being in a fight as a kid, falling and hurting oneself as a child, first born child, being in an accident winning an award and so on. Even as you read those words you may find memories spriging into your awareness. When you walk across the street and an automobile comes out of nowhere what happens, your subconscious automatically accesses speed, distance and calculates then acts in the fraction of an instant. You find yourself running before you realise what's even happening. The subconscious is an automatic mind and works to keep you safe. However is has no critical thinking power (that's work for the conscious intellect). To the suubconscious mind everything is black or white, there is no grey area. The victim of a panic attack usually knows when it's coming on, often the sufferer is oblivious to what causes it. Sometimes the sufferer is aware of what trigggers it but oblivious to the reasons. People who consult me know that the panic attack is irrational but they cannot put logic on it. In all cases I have found that at a subconscious level the belief system is misinformed in that it links some past experience/experiences to some imminent threat or danger. Alarm bells go off and the panic attac is triggered. The thought process is akin to a tangled piece of string. Using a range of techniques we untangle the string together and the client begins to slowly realise the connection between the fear and some past experience. Usually the experience is only teniously linked to that which triggers the panic attack. Once the client puts logic and clarity on the panic attack the panic attack ceases to exist and the client can return to normal living.A great example is the fear of flying. It is rarely if ever about flying. It is usually some thing from the past that was most unpleasant where the client had no control and was helpless. Being locked in a plane replicates this experience, or should I say the thought of being locked in a plane. Aorry for being a bit long winded but that's the king of thing I do. Hope that makes some sense.

Jackie Spencer said… Great views when the skies are bright, I believe that. You have longer nights, too, is that right? Our shortest nights in Ireland are in late January - dark by 4.p.m. and Our brightest nights are in late June 10p.m. I'm just avoiding homework now! When you take a break from homework your brain waves are in a cyclical rythm. Taking time out alows you to reavaluate the parameters. This weekend is my last course for NLP practitioner level. Hope you do well They gave me the homework last month...of course I have to wait till the night before class to do it! I Procrastination spurs us on. I practiced some speed trance techniques yesterday with a friend. I don't have a lot of practice partners so that was a treat. I look forward to your update.
According to your hobbies, you don't sound like a man to be trusted! Has Bill Getes been dropping my name again? Gardeners are notoriously suspicious people! Jackie, I'm suspicious by nature.

What are you looking for on this site?
A sense of community and sharing of knowledge with those who speak the language of hypnosis.
Areas of Specialty:
My goal is to specialize in medical hypnosis. Presently I specialize in whatever walks through my door!
About Me:
I graduated HMI's distance education program March 2009 and set up practice late August, so I'm very new to the craft. I have personally benefited from nearly a year of hypnotherapy with my mentor. When working with clients, I love seeing the light go on as they begin to glimpse the limitlessness of their potential, properly directed.
Hobbies:
STUDY! I've been in a hypnobubble this past year and I've had no time for hobbies, but I do love progressive rock music, movies that aren't gory or scary and reading. Last thing I read for pleasure was Harry Potter. Currently I'm reading Dave Elman's Hypnotherapy and it's really enjoyable.
