Are you talking about Spencer Johnson's book "Who Moved My Cheese?" It was quite popular in the go-go 90s corporate culture (Johnson also co-wrote the One-Minute Manager). The point of the book is to flourish by learning to work with inevitable or...

Do you think if you could resolve the inner conflicts caused by secondary gains by seeing those secondary gains (positive intentions) are being met by a different behavior? The six-step reframe in NLP addresses this kind of parts conflict. It's ju...

The Synergy of Abundance

I've read from discussions on Hypnothoughts that hypnotists tend to be a territorial lot when things get to a local level. I've seen some evidence to bear some of this out, particularly when it comes to stage hypnotists. From my own perspective, though, I just don't see things that way.

Yes, the most succesful among us are entrepenurial, doing their level best to be "first to market" on search engines, local trade networks, and such. This eagerness to be out there, shouldn't be interpreted as p… Continue

Aspiring Minds Want to Know

According to Hypnothoughts, I'm now an Aspiring Mind, having broken the 500-point threshold. Given that the bulk of my points have come from posting to my blog and discussions, I'm cool with that.

Yesterday I did a modified Satir Parts Party with a client. It's been a while since I visited this particular approach to parts work, and things went well. At first I experienced a little uncertainty about "doing it by the book," then I remembered that Satir was less interested in technical details an… Continue

Playing the Game for 60 Minutes

Yes, it's sports metaphor time.

Here in Austin, most everybody I know was watching the Fiesta Bowl last night, where the Texas Longhorns met the Ohio State Buckeyes on the field of play. Both teams showed both rust and brilliance, which was unsurprising, given the 30+ days since each team had played an actual game, and the overall level of talent on each team, respectively. What was surprising--thrilling and nerve-wracking, really--was the last 2:05 of the game.

With Texas behind at that point… Continue

World Hypnotism Day Wrap-Up

Given the last-minute nature of my WHD event, I'd say it was succesful. I used Lucila Dance, a small-but-comfortable studio in South Austin as the staging ground for this event. I worked with a couple before the actual event start at the studio, with positive results. The day outside was cold and dreary (well, cold for Austin) which may have dampened attendance slightly, but eight were in attendance and left the event very much in good spirits.

Other than a general overview of hypnotism, the ty… Continue

More Buzz and RSVPs for my World Hypnotism Day Sessions

I'm stoking the fire as this train heads to the station for Sunday's World Hypnotism Day class. I've gone experimental and put a post on Craigslist, as well as sending this info out to my contact list and a handful of other email lists on which I participate.

Here's the announcement I'm using:

On Sunday, January 4th, 2009 Celebrate World Hypnotism Day

The fourth annual World Hypnotism Day, Sunday, January 4, 2009, gives
hypnotists an opportunity to increase awareness and understanding

Hola, Senor Jaime, Bienvenidos a Hypnothoughts.

It's good to see you here, my friend. I think you'll love it. Keith's a member, too, though not very active.

BTW, we have a group for those of us in Texas, so please come by and join the Texas Trancemakers.

How many people have had, or continue to have, dreams wherein you see a dead loved one? Do these dreams bring you peace? How do these dreams help you come to terms with your loss? Has hypnosis helped in any way with these dreams?
