Henxy, Be careful. If you are suggesting that your clients stop seeking medical care, you could be accused of practicing medicine without a license, which is illegal. (I'm not a lawyer, but it seems like shaky ground to me.) But here's the thing...

Networking at TOPS

Last Summer, I set up a booth at my local county health fair, and as chance would have it, I was placed next to the local chapter of TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly), an international weight loss support group. Several of their members came over to my table for free hypnosis samples, and they invited me to speak for their group sometime.

Well, slightly over a month ago, while I was in a freeform brainstorming trance, my unconscious bubbled up the idea that I needed to contact TOPS, not just to… Continue

A Tip for Maintaining Rapport with Your Clients

A few days ago at a networking meeting, I met a woman who works for a very interesting online service.

Basically, you can go to the website and design a greeting card. "Okay," I thought, preparing to tune her out, "another e-card service . . . "

But, no, I was wrong. This company prints out the card, puts it in an envelope, and mails it to whoever you want. I can't tell you how many times I've wished that sending snail-mail was as easy as sending e-mail. And now it is.

Then my mind started ra… Continue

Pseudo-Credentialism

So today I ended up in an online conversation (away from Hypnothoughts) with someone who said, "I can't be hypnotized. Hahahaha!"

Now, I generally won't engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent, but I did briefly reply that anyone who says that doesn't really know what hypnosis is.

The other poster came back, saying, "I beg to differ. I've been in the chairs of several hypnotists, all of them doctors, and none of them could put me under. One of them, a Ph.D. in psychology, was amaze… Continue

Ooops! Accidental Pendulum Induction

Every year around Halloween, I dress up as a wizard and do hypnosis demos at the local municipal Halloween bashes--it's a way of participating in the local community, which is vital when you're operating in small towns. Because some of the children don't always have their parents present to sign a permission slip, I keep a few "not-magic tricks" handy to entertain them when I don't have a trancer in the chair.

So yesterday, I was demonstraing ideomotor action with a device called a tri-pendulum… Continue

An EMT Called Me a Zen Master

So last night I had occasion to take an ambulance ride to the hospital, in part due to some worrying lower abdomenal pain and in part due to a bloody gash on my forehead. As it turns out, I'm fine, though I have seven stitches and am considering going as Frankenstein for Halloween. And I don't want to start to think about how many sessions I'll be doing to pay for my trip to the ER.

Anyway, while I was waiting for the EMTs, I used a little self-hypnosis to stay calm, feel good, and begin the he… Continue

Hi James. The DVD I liked from Debi is the rapid Inductions. Haven't seen her affect bridge. She works with Cal Banyan on some stuff so would assume they are similar. Simply grow those feelings that has everything to do with why your here today. Let it grow and become stronger. Let it be more alive and more real. (pump it up until you think it has power enough) Now follow those feelings back to when they started. What ever patter you like. I would trust buying from Debi, Take care, Kent.

James,

It was great seeing your new practice, and just being in your space! What a lovely set-up... the whole property was relaxing. And all the people and vendors around you were so nice and friendly. I had so much fun reconnecting with you! Thank you again for trading sessions. I really enjoyed mine! I hope you have a good time in San Antonio at the class!

Hello new friend. Yes Shamanic practices are the foundation of modern hypnotherapy. I have journeyed with a few community shamanic circles in Santa Fe, and Northern California. Easier to divine and heal with support from the spirit helpers. Nothing clears the psyche like a good dismemberment in the lower world! My drum is a little dusty, with all these formal, modern studies. What's your connection/perception of the link from old school to new school?

Pain in the neck opened the door to my healing path, which is of course the classic archetype of the shaman!

Much Joy!
