My South African Adventure - Working and Playing in South Africa

I'm back in NYC. My working vacation in Cape Town and Johannesburg was the adventure of a lifetime and I am lucky to be alive! But first, I want to thank my host and sponsor, Claudia Klein, who owns and directs the South African Institute of Hypnotism (SAIH) in Cape Town, and Tom Budge, her associate who runs SAIH's Johannesburg hypnosis training center. Claudia, Tom and everyone that I met in South Africa treated me like a beloved family member. I will always remember and appreciate Claudia's a… Continue

Title: Comprehensive Tobacco-Control Programs Reduce Smoking in New York City

Two comprehensive antismoking campaigns in New York City have been successful in reducing the smoking rate

The 17.5% prevalence among New York City residents in 2006 amounts to a 19% decrease from 2002 when the rate was 21.6%, representing 240,000 fewer adult smokers and an average annual rate of decrease of 5%, according to a report in Morbidity & Mortality Weekly Report. Young adults (aged 18–24 years) had the largest 2002–2006 decrease, 35%.

The city's efforts consisted of increased taxation, establishment of smoke-free workplaces, public and health-care-provider education, cessation services, and rigorous evaluation, including annual cross-sectional, citywide telephone surveys.

Thank you Michael,

I added in before i took it down that i am so grateful for everyone's responses - i know i didn't handle this very well and it is in these times that i am learning to grow and release parts of me that i no longer wish to have :)

I absolutely will take all suggestions seriously as i wish to be an awesome therapist and genuinely care for others - i have helped many already but have a long way to go, and will do so much more cautiously and gently - now where is that insecurities hypnosis cd! hahahaahaha

Hi, Michael - I just read a thread about pain management for headaches. Do you believe we can effectively eradicate cluster headaches, which are a neurological disease? If so, how would you suggest doing that? I've never worked with this subject matter before and would welcome any insight! Thanks, Michele
