Thanks for posting this. Would have been better if David had kept more of the conversation and feedback. Without client response, its just an induction.

The language we use when we talk about health care - and why it matters

Today I wanted to bring to your attention this recent article (or should I say, argument?) running in The Guardian around the word "bogus" and what it means or implies when it is used to describe a form
of complementary health care.

The article discusses science writer Simon Singh's use of the word "bogus" in a previous article published in The Guardian.

In this article, according to ThContinue

Less hypno-lingo and more hypnotherapy, please

One of the single most influential hypno-stories to have gripped the pubic imagination in recent months, is Lily Allen’s transformation, dropping two dress sizes from a very pretty size 12 to a toned size 8, which she attributes to hypnotherapy sessions.

It’s interesting to see media all over the world picking up on this story. Here’s a link to the Ahlan! Live in the United Arab Emirates version of the story. They also mention other recent celeb stor… Continue

Self-hypnosis for hip replacement op

This morning, I am feeling immensely proud of my mum. Let me tell you why…

Yesterday morning, she had the hip replacement operation that she had been dreading.

Firstly, my mum has been using my You Can Have a Healthy Body audio programme for some time now and we have done some work in hypnotherapy together, which has helped her to slow down deterioration in her hip and manage any pain. She was told five years ago that she would need a hip replacement but her fabulous mindset has helped to hold… Continue

Is the recession causing an 'anxiety epidemic'?

There is a very interesting and thought-provoking article in my Sunday paper this weekend about fears of 'an anxiety epidemic caused by the depression.'

One of my clients just brought it to my attention and I think it is a fascinating example of some of the ideas and feelings that are floating around in the ether right now. The article in The Observer is entitled 'Victims of recession to get free therapContinue

Spring cleaning... my Sunday self-hypnosis

A very good morning to you from beautiful North Yorkshire where the air is crisp and, when I opened the bedroom window just now, carried the distinctive scent of spring.

Yes, it is not my imagination springing eternal. It is definitely spring springing...

'Ah, but,' someone said to me at the weekend, 'There is more bad weather to come:
March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb...but if it comes in like a lamb...
'

Which is a 'glass half-empty' kind of phrase, if ever I heard… Continue

Sophie, thank you for the kind words about the video. I was writing what they called out as suggestions (coffee shop, police, manager, etc.) as we were playing an Improvisational Language Structure (games based upon improvisational theatre - if you know the show "Who's Line Is It Anyway? then you know the sort of game). I have been using ILS in undergraduate classes for creativity enhancement for years. For this particular class, the generalized hypnosis session was for stress reduction and to open them up for creativity while I also did a mini-stage show. In other contexts, I will use automatic writing, drawing, and roleplay. I have been teaching this sort of workshop to teacher's groups for years.

All the best,
Brian
