I'm (slowly, too slowly) working on just that myself, Marianne. I need to get my ASL skills back up to speed, but once that's done, it's just a matter of using an eyes-open trance and using sign language to communicate. Or, if you don't know sign ...

I agree with everyone here, essentially. Speed Trance and Instant Inductions are cut from the same cloth, in my opinion; however, Speed Trance is perhaps better branding. ;) It makes me think, well, of John's products and style, whereas "instant" ...

About Me:
I am a budding hypnotherapist (certified and member of the IACT and still learning as well), getting my practice up and going. I've long been interested in how the mind works in general, and hypnosis in particular. I chose Linguistics to get a BA in because it was one point all or most of my other interests had in common. I'm also a writer of poetry and fantasy and used to be a moderator on Forward Motion, probably the biggest community writing site on the Net.

I'm also a really fun guy. Honest.

Letting go the past

I was listening to the radio today and heard something that sparked an idea in me. There was a speaker talking about how to be "calm, cool and collected," and she mentioned the fact that we tend to wallow in the past. We revel in how miserable we are because we hurt our friends' feelings or we didn't stick to our diet or ...

In other words, we don't move on.

We stay stuck in the past, forever reliving and re-experiencing what is most likely no longer an issue for anyone else. And then we wonde… Continue

Deaf and hard of hearing hypnosis

I've been working on an idea for hypnosis for the Deaf and hard of hearing and need willing victi--er, subjects for live or webcam sessions. If any of you know anyone that might need hypnosis or just want to experience hypnosis, send 'em my way!

I would greatly appreciate it.

Phone/Skype client today

So I have a phone client today, requesting help with weight loss issues. We had our first phone session last week, doing just general/intro work, and it went well, albeit a bit oddly for me. His microphone wasn't working, so I had no feedback during the trance part of the session; not until he came out of trance and used the chat area of Skype again did I have any sense of how it went.

Bit odd for me, but it worked out well enough.

Today begins the "real" work, and to prepare, I went to resear… Continue

What a day

So yesterday my wife checks her email and finds 18 transactions from PayPal for $150 each. After the initial dread and shock wears off, she disputes them all with PayPal (which had already frozen her account) and I open a ticket at the company all the money went to.

She plays some games by Zynga on Facebook and all the transactions were for "5M chips at $150" to Zynga.

With all that done and with it looking like we caught it in time for it to not hit the actual bank, we go about our day. Then… Continue

Quack like a duck?

A couple days ago, I was presented with a brilliant example of why having a good pretalk always handy is essential. There's a radio show in our area, a christian talk show, and the host did a segment on hypnosis. "Should Christians do it?"

His main issue was "loss of control" and a couple hypnotists called in to discuss it with him. Neither of them, I felt, did a terribly good job of handling his objection.

He even, at one point, asked "Could you make me, I don't know, quack like a duck?"

I w… Continue

Hi Joshua:

Thanks for the friend invite, and the nifty advice on my blog, too. Sorry to hear about your woes with the money rip-off - one reason I've avoided getting tangled up in Facebook so far. Hope your week straightens itself out soon.

Thank you, You know when i posted the question I did it not really careing if people told me to stop! Get training first. But you made some great points. Those who did it first didn't have fancy letters or perhaps half the information available now. I feel that I do have a strong foundation in hypnosis as it is one of my biggest fasinations in life. Unfortuntly the support of fellow hypnotits in my area is lets just say on the lacking side, being there really isn't any. However I have found this site increadable useful and a lot of the people very generous with their words of incouragement and for this I am very thankful..
Thanks again for your response
