Because there are so many advertisements masquerading as reviews floating out there on the Interwebs, I decided to start a blog where I review various materials related to hypnosis and hypnosis education: books, videos, audio books, and other tools.

At Kelley Woods' prompting, I've started a group here on Hypnothoughts for those of us who are currently reshaping our bodies.

Last Summer, I set up a booth at my local county health fair, and as chance would have it, I was placed next to the local chapter of TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly), an international weight loss support group. Several of their members came over to my table for free hypnosis samples, and they invited me to speak for their group sometime.

A few days ago at a networking meeting, I met a woman who works for a very interesting online service.
Basically, you can go to the website and design a greeting card. "Okay," I thought, preparing to tune her out, "another e-card service . . . "
But, no, I was wrong. This company prints out the card, puts it in an envelope, and mails it to whoever you want. I can't tell you how many times I've wished that sending snail-mail was as easy as sending e-mail. And now it is.

So today I ended up in an online conversation (away from Hypnothoughts) with someone who said, "I can't be hypnotized. Hahahaha!"
Now, I generally won't engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent, but I did briefly reply that anyone who says that doesn't really know what hypnosis is.

Every year around Halloween, I dress up as a wizard and do hypnosis demos at the local municipal Halloween bashes--it's a way of participating in the local community, which is vital when you're operating in small towns. Because some of the children don't always have their parents present to sign a permission slip, I keep a few "not-magic tricks" handy to entertain them when I don't have a trancer in the chair.

So last night I had occasion to take an ambulance ride to the hospital, in part due to some worrying lower abdomenal pain and in part due to a bloody gash on my forehead. As it turns out, I'm fine, though I have seven stitches and am considering going as Frankenstein for Halloween. So last night I had a dream that I was conducting a hypnosis workshop, apparently in the evening.
In the dream, as I was guiding the group into trance, I slipped off into a deep trance myself, which happens to me periodically when I'm guiding someone else.
In the dream, though, I went so deep that the next thing I knew, the sun was rising through the windows. I and the entire class had sat there all night!

About six weeks ago, I set out on a mostly music tour, but of course I worked in as much hypnosis as I could, doing private sessions, impromptu hypnosis, workshops, and demos that were really mini-shows. After rocking the house musically at a number of shows and having a lot of great hypnotic results, I came to a realization: I'm a natural-born performer, and it's silly for me to bust my butt for musician pay when I could learn to be a great stage hypnotist.

So last Sunday, a couple of musicians I know--Mark and April, literally a couple as well as a recently-formed musical act--asked if I would film them playing for a digital audition, and I proposed that my office would be a good location. Today, I worked with my first underage client--a teenaged girl who lacks confidence in her cheerleading and in social situations. Or maybe I should say she lacked confidence before I worked with her . . .

So this morning I had my hypnosis umbrella at the Bastrop County Health Fair, and it was probably the best four hours of networking I've ever done. Once I had my first volunteer, I didn't get a break, and I still had a line of people waiting to trance when all of the other booths had packed up and gone away. Every Tuesday morning, I wake up to an alarm so that I can make it to the local networking group meeting on time.

So today I had a ribbon-cutting ceremony at my office, to celebrate joining the local Chamber of Commerce. My picture will be in the local paper, and I get to provide the write-up. Nice, huh? When some of the local business people asked me a few questions, one of my clients who was present jumped up and answered their questions with glowing praise for my abilities. I got to just dig my toe in the ground and say "Aw, shucks . . . "

Sorry I've been away from Hypnothoughts for a while--I've had computer issues coupled with a distinctly busy schedule. The computer issues are getting cleared up, but the schedule is still crazy.

It's been a while since I last blogged, so I thought I'd post a bit on what I've been up to.
First off, my business has been kind of on hold following the fire that took out most of the shopping center where I have my office. My building survived, and there are rumors going around the local area that I "cast a spell" over my office to keep it safe. (The rumors are not entirely untrue.) First off, thanks, all of you who visualized protection for my office. I went to bed last night having read reports that the entire Center had burned down, and I'd seen footage of a reporter standing in front of the Alum Creek Center sign and gesturing to the burning buildings behind her.

As those of you reading my blog know, last Monday I declared my office ready for business. On Friday, I had my first paying clients there--one was a repeat and the other a friend from a local networking group that meets around the corner from my office.
