WHile our first show didn't go exactly as we had planned the audience of about 30 people, applauded and hollered for us after the show ended... ANd all the talk was good, despite the sudden ending! We only got in about 10 skits, before the last two people left on stage desided they where done.... Me and Josh kinda stood there in amazement our first show ended far before we wanted... We did still manage to give them an hour show, and afterwards we had a few more people come up and give it a try... We did hypnotize everyone, as my red pen was the funniest thing in the bar! It was definatly a learning curve but we are hoping that the Bar owner keeps us in mind for future shows... Made $100.00 not bad for a first show... One thing is for certian though it does feel a lot better having done the first show and now that it's over I am only excited for the next one!!!!

Cheers!~
Amanda

Great job on the first show! I tried to post this but I guess it didn't work... I have an idea though that should prevent the "domino effect" and people self-dismissing:

I tell them a "story" about a guy who walked off stage when I wasn't looking, thinking he wasn't hypnotized. Well, he thought wrong. (wait for audience laugh). Turns out he woke up in the womens' restroom about an hour later from what I heard... OF COURSE I give you my word that I'll erase all suggestions at the end of the show or if I send you back.. but only if I'm the one doing it!

Feel free to steal it if you want. When I added it to my pretalk, "self-dismissals" dropped like a rock!

I know how difficult the first show is, and I am very proud of you for your great accomplishment. The next one will that much easier for you. Then the next, and the next and so on and so on....
One of my first shows taught me a tremendous lesson, take nothing for granted.
The best of luck on your next show.

Good job Amanda! Get the next one going & video tape all of your shows at first. This is a great way for you & others to 'fine tune' your show.

A tip I also found was that dinner ware has become larger. So I hunted around op shops to find older style dinnerware so when I served up my food it looked in proportion to the plate.
