Driving along the freeway with my teen son, he commented how the traffic ahead was in a "clot". I laughed and agreed with him.

It wasn't until later that evening, as I worked with a diabetic client who suffers from leg pain that I employed the traffic clot metaphor into our work. My client was "driving" the crowded lanes of Los Angeles traffic as usual when he was magically lifted to the speed limit-free, wide open roads of Montana! He even came up with some perfect car trip tunes to play in his mind as he enjoyed the passing scenery!

You never know from where inspiration for our work comes!

Hey Kelly,
I to, have greatly benefitted in my practice from the words of wisdom of Micheal Elner, Melissa Roth and so many other sharing guru's. I am grateful for the time and willingness to help me help other's on their quest for a better life.

I am so pleased that Chuck will become a fresh air breather, as he was originally designed. Funny, how three years ago, when I told Chuck I was going to get my hypnotherapy certification, we had sucha a laugh as he had to dis own me to protect his catholic faith!!!!! Tongue in cheek,, and now he see's the many benefits and ease of change with our mutual friends,, so he's doing his best,, and he is a great, giving guy...

Leaves are completed for the year,, I think,, till the next wind blows!!!!!!!!!!

Have a nice evening,

Scott

Hi Scott,
Thank you for your comments and sharing your tale about your good friend! We all have a role to play when someone we care about is ill and your role apparently is to model health and friendship to Chuck. Becoming a non-smoker is probably the single most valuable step he can make toward better health.

Diabetes is a complicated issue, about which, through the generousity of my client and some experts (Melissa Roth, Michael Ellner, et al) on this site, I am learning much! One thing clear is the emotional influence that is present, so hopefully your hypno friend will be able to address it with Chuck.

Michael Ellner posted a wonderful comment http://www.hypnothoughts.com/profiles/blogs/death-1 on here about showing a client the possibilities and joys of their life instead of letting them dwell on the limitations...great advice!

Enjoy those leaves!

Hey Kelly,
Sounds like your son is wise, his glass seems half full to be able to find the blessing in a traffic jam....

I'm inspired to see your post on diabetes. One of my best buds, I've known him for over 20 years, at first as a crazy fun guy,, always the fun, life of the party guy.

Today, his wife called, Chuck had bottomed out at home again. Wow! Tough to not be able to just take off and help out. His wife made our wedding cake,, they are always sending my boys something fun to read, you get the idea,, our families get along so well and I'd love to help him out..

And,,
Chuck, is still a smoker, I remember the night I met him, we were going to a Neal Young concert at the Fox Theatre and he smoked on the way, in my car,, arrggggg.. ...

So,, I'm inspired that he has started to believe in what I do, what we all do on this great hypno site..

So,, my inspiration is that,, this week,, I refered Chuck to a good friend Hypno who will be working on getting rid of the death darts with Chuck.. I would help him for free, yet we would just laugh together and get nadda done.

So, everyone out there,,

Have some hope,, some faith that people can change,, can find motivation.. And Chuck's is to be a grandfather to his son's new daughter,, to be there at her 25th birthday,, to be there for his kids,, and he's a great father,,

Chuck has had an apifinay,, hope I spelled that rigtht,, he found a perception change,, I have no idea where or when it happened,, would like to think that by throwing Chuck out of our house,, out of our garage,, when he needs his nic fix,, could have helped as a nudge..

People can change..

If anyone has worked successfully with diabetes I'm looking for some inspiring words for Chuck, to help motivate him paste the smokes,, and work on staying level,, staying in control,, staying with us at dinner,, not having to think he has to have a beer with us as it spikes him,,

Hope you all have a great Sunday,, It's Indian Summer here in Clarkston Michigan,,

Off to clear the leaves
