Don't normally ask for myself, but I am in need of healing badly tonight.

I am probably going to be offline for a few days – I managed to all but rip the end off my left index finger at Christmas Dinner tonight – broke the tip of the bone right off and ripped the nail off. A trip to the hospital tonight to get it set and 10 stiches to re-attach the end of the finger – now I am home – the freezing is coming out – I am sort of hen-pecking to type this – and hoping that the major pain killer prescription they provided kicks in soon.

So, it all depends on how well I’m dealing with the pain – I used a lot of self-hypnosis to get through before they froze it in order to reset it and stitch it together, and I’ll be using quite a bit I expect to hasten healing and help keep the pain down probably. I’m on Oxycoten – so I’m probably going to be flying high for a few days. (Yes, I will be careful not to over-use as I am aware of it's addictive reputation!)

Hope you had a nice Christmas – mine was good until just sitting down for dessert. When I went to pull the chair in closer to the table, the seat came off the base, and my finger tip wedged under the seat and the base of the chair. Naturally, when I felt the pain, I jerked my hand out, and heard a crunch. So I was left with everything just above the nail hanging down attached by a bit of flesh on the bottom of the finger. OUCH!!! Guess I won’t be playing piano for a while.

Anyways, I will muchly appreciate any healing help you can send at this time. Thanks in advance for that.

Blessings,
Sheila

Update: I had the bandage/dressing changed today - the doctor was amazed at how good it looked (said it appeared more like 4 or 5 days healing, not just two) - he’s thinking stitches to come out by mid-week, not next weekend. Also, while I had the bandage off, I carefully pushed all around the sides and the end of the finger with a folded piece of gauze - and I did have “feeling” in those areas - some more than others, but at this stage, I’m happy for any amount. Anyways, I’m very pleased with the progress, and wanted to share that with everyone.

Yes! You are right - I am feeling better and better.... and will continue to feel better and better.... and I've had a bit of a laugh about this whole thing today. My son (who doesn't believe in Karma) has suggested that I must have some nasty karmic past with his wife (who only puts up with me because she married my son). Four years ago she slammed their car door on another of my fingers, almost severing it. Apparently that was the first thing she thought of last night when this "accident" happened, because it happened with a chair that she insisted I sit on (we were all placed at the dinner table). Hopefully, I have now paid my karmic debt, as I really want her to realize that I am happy she's married to him, and I really need ALL of my digits intact. LOL

She totally dislikes anything to do with hypnosis or my "spiritual" beliefs - but the other funny thing last night was her telling me to "just hypnotise yourself and you won't feel the pain". I think she was doing her level best to try to crack a joke to get me to laugh - but instead, as I was pretty much in shock, that's exactly what I did - I used hypnosis and stopped most of the blood flow and toned the pain down enough for my son to apply a good pressure bandage. I think it gave her a bit of something to think about - she actually gave me a hug tonight when they brought food and my dessert - actually the rest of the "grasshopper" cheese-cake. So I am staying positive and looking at the bigger picture at this time.

it is good to take a light-hearted approach to serious healing -- This message contains embedded "time release suggestions:" You are feeling better and better...

Must be some pretty powerful healing thoughts coming down the pipe, as well as my using hypnosis to help, because I've taken myself off the pain meds (they were terribly nauseating), and I only have mild discomfort at this time. So a big thank you to everyone sending healing!!! I may need a bit of Tylenol to sleep comfortably, but the Oxycoten is going back to the pharmacy so they can dispose of it properly. I've also been doing a lot of healing suggestions and visualizing - and the doctor last night who tried to get me to accept that "you won't be playing piano for a good six months" didn't like it too well when I informed her that I refused to accept such a "suggestion" from her.... LOL!!! Where do they get off with doing that? I know I have to wear a splint for maybe 10 days to two weeks - I've decided that I'll be playing the piano shortly after that is off.

Anyways, my family is looking after me - I won't have to cook much for the next several days, and my son saved my cheese-cake dessert and is bringing it over this afternoon. As you can see, I have adapted to typing without the index finger - nowhere near my normal 80 wmp, but not too shabby on speed either. I'm going to treat myself to going to the hair-dresser's every couple of days for a shampoo, and I'll figure out a way to take a shower without getting it wet. I absolutely refuse to let this become a major challenge for me!

I went through a similar accident with a finger about 10 years ago and I can tell you, you will make a complete recovery.

Warm wishes for a speedy recovery.

Shiela,
All my thoughts and prayers go out to you. I am glad you had a nice celebration, before everything went crazy. Your healing will be fast and comfortable, but you already knew that, didn't you? Take it easy and see you back soon.
Aino
PS I guess we should all inspect our chairs for possible loose seats... never thought there could be a danger like that. I have heard about finger pinching happening with a piano bench that opens for storage. A
