WARNING: If you want get-rich-quick schemes, do NOT read this. But if you are in business for the long haul, and want to know how to build a profitable business using time tested principles... get a cup of coffee and a pad to take notes on.

What I am going to present to you today is the 6 core elements of a stable (and profitable) online business.

There are many $1 million dollar businesses using this model. I personally have built two million-plus businesses for clients using this exact model.


And what is really IMPORTANT to understand about this model, is this is simply the online version of Direct Response Marketing which has been highly effective many years before the Internet was more than an idea in a computer lab.


The big differences the Internet offers are:

  • speed of deployment
  • speed of results
  • automated systems

KEY POINT: it is vital you learn and understand the fundamental principles of marketing and business. The Internet is just a media. A tool. The principles NEVER change.

Okay, enough about the fundamentals, I think you get it.

So, you probably want to know what are the 6 essential steps. You ready?

Here they are... In my experience having a profitable online business involves having these SIX SYSTEMS in place:


  1. Market Research
  2. Properly built Pay Per Click campaign
  3. Automated Email follow-up
  4. Conversion Tracking
  5. Seductive copy
  6. Split testing of key sales elements


Fact is, many million dollar online businesses have been, and will continue to be built with only these six essential elements in place. Because by implementing each of these systems, you learn exactly what your market wants and how best to give it to them. You know the psychology and you know the exact numbers on how well every element of your business is doing.


You can NOT afford to leave your business to chance, hunches, and guesses!
You must understand your prospective clients, and know exactly
the return-on-investment every dollar spent on
marketing & advertising is bringing in to your business!!!


All the other ways to get traffic on the Internet are great, but until you have these measreable and proven systems in place... other forms of traffic such as social media and SEO are more distractions than anything else. The 'next shiny thing' to chase.

Once you have the six working, THEN the other ways to get traffic are a way to expand your empire. (I'll share a little secret the 'pros' use for SEO, they optimize on the keyword phrases from their most profitable Pay Per Click ads. Think about it!)

But... here's the problem... it ain't easy. I'd be lying to you if I said it was. If you want overnight success, there are plenty of people who will tell you they have the 'secret'.

On the other hand, if you want to build a business for the long haul using Internet Marketing... at some point you will discover these six elements are the way to do it. And, the most successful businesses in the world use similar systems in the OFFLINE world with either Direct Mail or Lead Generation ads in targeted print media.

Now, I would love to tell you I've just created a new 'magic' automated system to do this all for you. (Hell I'd like one for myself)

Or maybe that I have a staff of people in third world countries who can build these systems for you for pennies, but that's not the case either.

What I can do is guide you to resources with which you can educate yourself about each of these six elements. Enough so you can find people to help you implement. (I will discourage you from doing it all yourself, you should do that which brings in revenue -- working with clients, creating content, etc.)

Get An Email Marketing System NOW!


In the meantime, if you do not have a system for automated email (known as autoresponders), get one now and begin to learn how to use it.

I am going to be HAMMERING this home for all Hypnotists. Almost no one in the hypnosis industry does any follow up, and even fewer have AUTOMATED follow up systems. Just this one change in how you do business can be worth thousands of dollars! (see the P.S.)

Email makes it so easy to do automated follow up, but you can't do it from your Mac or pc, because of junk-spam-filtering problems. The spammer butt-heads have made life difficult for us business owners with integrity. So you will need a service designed to do this for you, and all you do is write the emails and set up when they are to be sent out. They handle being compliant with laws and making sure your email gets delivered.


Here are two I recommend:

1. Aweber - Email Service Provider

Aweber is the best Email Service Provider (ESP) for small businesses. They have been around since the earliest days of email marketing and continually work to improve their service. All they do is email delivery for businesses, and they do it very well.

Aweber staff also work daily with Internet Service Providers such as AOL, Gmail, Comcast, etc. to gaurantee email sent from Aweber is allowed past junk mail filters. This is why they have a very high deliverability rate.

Here's a fact of life online -- if your email doesn't get delivered, no one will read it.

They also have a very robust set of reporting and analysis tools so you can track, test, and measure important stats on your email campaigns. They also have a good set of video tutorials, a very informative blog, and a top notch support team.

Service starts at $19/month. To give you perspective, the closest offering I've found with equal quality is about $100/month.


2. One Shopping Cart - Integrated Shopping Cart & Email Marketing System

This is the service to use if you want an all-in-one integrated solution.

They provide:
a secure shopping cart system
customer database
product/service database
email system
order tracking system
and more...

Integrated means, when someone orders a product, it can automatically remove them from one autoresponder and put them on another one. This saves many hours of work businesses used to do by hand in the direct mail world.

I have yet to find any other system like it for less than $5,000/year. The email plus shopping cart package is $59/month (this is the one I use).

They have great support, and are constantly asking the users what features we would like to have. They have been serving small businesses since 1999, which is like 100 years in Internet time.

Good Day Craig,
I could not agree with you more and I feel the P.S is very important for people to understand when it comes to marketing and promotion - why spend a large amount of money on that initial lead or leads for the first contact then if they do not buy you feel dejected.
It is all about having continued contact with your client base and giving them worthwhile and free information which can include things like newsletters and ezines.
Keeping them informed about further products or services that you or indeed friends and associates offer that you think maybe beneficial to them - this gives them a feeling of belonging and keeps you in their mind too.

Just my little addition and I hope that you do not mind.

There is one book I strongly believe should be added to anyone's list for internet marketing in addition to the ones on your site, and that is Robert Cialdini's book "YES!". Ive read the others and this one stands out as a must have.
