Given the last-minute nature of my WHD event, I'd say it was succesful. I used Lucila Dance, a small-but-comfortable studio in South Austin as the staging ground for this event. I worked with a couple before the actual event start at the studio, with positive results. The day outside was cold and dreary (well, cold for Austin) which may have dampened attendance slightly, but eight were in attendance and left the event very much in good spirits.
Other than a general overview of hypnotism, the typical scope of a consulting hypnotist's services, and what services I offer, participants were treated to two group trances: one focused on gratitude as a means of state change, the other was a generative
Clone Process developed by my friend and colleague Mike Bown, aimed at creating a compelling future you with the qualities needed to gets lots more of what you really want.
All in all, it was a very positive experience for all involved, including myself. Some lessons learned include:
1. Get a head start on this event next year. Really work the PR and get lots of free media coverage.
2. Meetup.com provided the best results from people outside of earshot of my usual grapevine and network.
3. If I use this space again (and I very well may), I'll provide more specific directions and I'll be better prepared to avoiding my own beguiling gaze in the dance studio mirrors. Given the cozy space, I probably should have done the general talk from a seated position to get at eye'level with the participants.
4. Bring a thermos of hot tea to save wear on my voice.
Onto the next event: Creating Lasting Change Using Hypnosis. January 13, 7 PM. Lots of planning and calendar-crunching to do tonight.
